Becoming a mum

Becoming a mother is the most empowering experience I have ever experienced in my life. Given the American society looks down on mums, deep down, it had forced me to be ashamed of myself and not to be so open because I will not even get a job when they know I am a mum. I keep it a secret for that reason but every time I speak to my uncle he reminds me what an honorable position it is to become a mother. That's the thing about Sri Lanka. Family is everything there. Motherhood is the most honorable expereince and widows , childless women are often viewed negatively. Even though I don't agree with extreme views because people have their own reasons, I like how our culture highlights on things that matter - living a life with meaning. Would I have felt if I built a company and took it IPO? Of courses yes. Do I feel happier having a kid? Hell yes. Do I want to do both? Yes.

A lot happens in a day. Settlement agreement a lawyer stating the amendments can't be done when my entire purpose of challenging termination was to get it classified as an unfair dismissal which is the case, then missin gthe office halloween party, missing the mum outing, completing two deliverables out of 3 at work, interviewing a nanny whom I hardly trust despite Anna's good reference because I clearly feel she is using me for her H1b application rather than trying to help us out, a lot can happen a day. Adulting

Crazy to think I started writing this blog in my teenage years.I am 36 now. Have a loving, handsome, educated and a very intelligent husband. HAve a beautiful baby boy. Crazy how life changes. The energy drainers in my life had been brother and now the manhattan mum group which i am unable to ignore because the notifications still pop up even when i have muted. somtimes i feel like an asshole because i am not helping any of my uncles. i dont honestly know how to help. they don't verbalize where they need help. and ajantha mama hates me for leaving his house. i do regret looking back. at least i should have left in good terms. this is also a good lesson to learn. always be in good terms with people. u never know when u would need them or u at least want peace. i am glad i am still in good terms with rana even though i don't want to continue my friendship with her. it's a toxic friendship. she thinks i need help or i am a child. she is more fucked up than i am. honestly, she ...

Thoughts

Having a baby changes many things. The existing relationships turn upside down as priorities change. It's 1 p.m. on a Thursday. I have finally managed to calm down the baby. I am also mad that Steve does not have the capacity and the willingness to help with teh baby. By nature he is an impatient person. I am not happy that he gets mad at the baby and also easily gives up on the baby. If something happens to me, all the money should go to the baby and to him. I am afraid he will give up on the baby like his selfish dad. I literally can't afford to die. There is also a law that if the money exceeds $10,000, it cannot be given to the minor. Anyway will see.Apart from that Steve is great. It's not always easy, now that the relationship dynamics have changed but we somehow work through and that is what matters.
